LANDER ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Lander Road Primary School caters for children between the ages of 2 and 11.  We currently have 252 children on role.  It is situated in Litherland, in the Metropolitan borough of Sefton, approximately 9kn from the centre of Liverpool.  It serves an area of high social deprivation; the most recent data available puts the school in one of the 10% most deprived wards in the country.  Over 36% of our children are entitled to free school meals.  The school and the area that it serves are very mono-cultural; only 4 of our children are from a non-white British background.  The international dimension has been an important part of our curriculum in school for a number of years.  We have received the International School Award three times.  We have been involved in a number of Comenius multi-lateral projects in the past, and have been a coordinator for our last two projects.  We have also been part of a Comenius Regio project.  Through our work on the international dimension, we are able to introduce our pupils to a range of experiences that they would not otherwise encounter.
